3 Reasons to Add Chlorophyll to Your Water

A girlfriend of mine got sick the week before her big holiday party, so I brought over a bag of a few natural remedies including some chlorophyll to mix with water. Despite saying that it looked like swamp water (😂), she trusted me enough to finally drink it (and despite the color, it actually tastes delicious. Some people think it doesn’t taste like anything – but I usually put a large enough pour in my water to taste the natural mint flavoring).

I put chlorophyll in my water every single day, because I not only genuinely love the taste (I’ve tried a few, and Nature’s Sunshine Chlorophyll is my favorite) but for the amazing health benefits as well.

Chlorophyll is said to have an extensive list of benefits – and while I can’t speak to every single one of them, I can speak to a handful of ways I’ve found it to be beneficial.

If you’ve seen green water on your feed or in your friend’s water bottles but haven’t yet figured out if it’s something you want to hop on board with, here are three main reasons I drink chlorophyll water every day.

Chlorophyll for Cold & Flu Season

It seems like everyone is getting sick (#tistheseason), and one great reason to drink chlorophyll is for it’s alkaline-promoting properties. Aside from helping to fight infections by boosting red blood cell production, it creates an alkaline environment in your body making it harder for viruses to thrive (meaning it’s harder for you to get sick). It’s also high in nutrients which provides a healthy boost to your immune system - so if you’re already sick, it will have to fight off bad bacteria & viruses faster.

Chlorophyll for Gut Health

Reason #2 to drink chlorophyll water is the benefits for your digestive tract; because of its alkalizing properties, it’s a great way to naturally relieve heartburn or indigestion. (I’ve offered it to many friends with heartburn who have called it “nature’s pepto bismal”!) As a previous sufferer of GERD & IBS, chlorophyll has been a game changer for my gut health (I swear by chlorophyll, a good probiotic, & stress management for keeping my stomach happy without the need for daily medication.)

Chlorophyll also helps promote overall gut health by getting rid of harmful bacteria (thanks to its detoxifying properties) while maintaining good bacteria needed to maintain a healthy digestive tract.

Chlorophyll as an Internal Deodorant

Lastly, if you’ve unsuccessfully tried to make the switch to natural deodorant but just couldn’t stick it out because you felt like it just didn’t work – you NEED to add liquid chlorophyll to your daily water. Chlorophyll is said to work as a natural internal deodorant by breaking down and binding to odor causing compounds such as sulfides. I tell every single one of my girlfriends who wants to make the switch to natural deodorant – 1. Try the Native Deodorant brand and 2. Make sure to start drinking chlorophyll!

If you’re wanting to add chlorophyll benefits into your daily routine, you can buy Nature’s Sunshine Chlorophyll on Amazon here. You can also buy it through their website if you have an account, but if you don’t, Amazon 2-day shipping is here to the rescue. (And no, this isn’t sponsored – I’ve just been through trial & error of a few brands and know this is one I love & trust!) 😊
